2016 Olympics - Rio de Janeiro

We are excited about the upcoming Olympic Games in Brazil - we have high hopes for our awesome NZ athletes who will be competing and flying the silver fern for NZ!


Our first DRIVE inquiry for the term is based on the Games -

Rio 2016: CITIUS, ALTIUS, FORTIUS – FASTER, HIGHER, STRONGER! 
Why are challenges important for me?

Working on Level 3 of the Health and PE curriculum, we will participate in co-operative and competitive activities and describe how co-operation and competition can affect people’s behaviour  and the quality of the experience.

The important ideas are:
* Challenges are important for personal growth and learning. 
* People behave differently in different circumstances.
* How people react to a situation can affect them and others in positive and negative ways.

Our First XV Great Learners' Quotes

1.                Great learners can be anyone.

6.                Great learners know that learning is an all-day life-long journey.
7.                Great learners know that effort and practice are required for success.
8.                Great learners know that mistakes are part of learning.
9.                Great learners are curious to find out more.
10.           Great learners are confident and persistent and don’t give up at the first hurdle.
11.           Great learners are able to improve by reflecting on their thinking and actions.

These fifteen quotes came about through consultation with our school community and boiling down their responses to fifteen clear statements.  We then included them onto the backs of our provincial rugby team’s jerseys and shared these around the school.
